Great Summary of the Santorum Campaign

April 12, 2012

From the Rick Santorum for President campaign…

Great info. Please share. All of us should be pleased with the accomplishments of this campaign.

Rick Santorum announced yesterday that he is suspending his campaign for President, calling it “one of the hardest decisions Karen and I have ever had to face together.” Rick explained, “It has been hard in large measure because of you. I know that my candidacy has offered you a way to fight for your convictions, and I do not want to let you down.”

Rick continued, “Since I first ran for Congress in a Democrat-majority district in Pittsburgh, I have fought for struggling families. I have fought for the unborn. I have fought for those losing hope in the American Dream. And during this Presidential race we have fought hard. Together. You have been with me every step of the way. Every volunteer, donor, friend and family has given sacrificially of their time and their treasure. We are humbled and thankful.”

Rick literally started this campaign in his kitchen with family and a few friends.  When no one gave him a chance, Rick drove around Iowa in a truck with a guy named Chuck, visiting all 99 counties before winning the historic Iowa Caucus.

When pollsters put Rick at 2%, you gave Rick a voice to carry the conservative message to the nation.  Over 160,000 people contributed to Rick’s campaign, with an average donation of only $73.10. Few races in history have seen so many people given so modestly to preserve liberty.

Rick was outspent in most states by a 5-1 margin and in key battlegrounds by 10-1 or more.  Despite the odds, Rick won an historic 11 states, the same number won by Ronald Reagan in 1976.  Running on a shoestring, Rick came incredibly close to winning Mitt Romney’s boyhood state of Michigan despite a barrage of negative attacks and near-hysteria from the liberal media, establishment, and others afraid of what a return to conservative principles would mean for America.

Rick won Iowa, was victorious in the three-state sweep and the Southern double header, and notched a 23 point victory in Louisiana.  He was only a few votes shy in Michigan and Ohio.  Voters across the country, from the South and the Midwest to America’s Heartland, ignored the pundits and stood up to the establishment by voting for Rick Santorum. He won more than twice as many counties (902) as Mitt Romney (411) and more than all the other candidates combined (788). There has been no other Presidential comeback story like this, and it couldn’t have happened without you.

From the start of this race Rick offered a unique voice in the debate, one that the party and the country needs to hear. Rick was not successful because of big money donors or establishment backing…it was because he was your voice, and a voice for the voiceless in society.  He ran an issue-based campaign, avoiding character attacks and laying out a positive vision for our nation’s future.  He was willing to stand for issues that some believe are controversial and would prefer to sweep under the rug.  He stood for life, family, smaller government, responsible spending, protecting our nation from the threat of a nuclear Iran and Islamic fascism, increased domestic energy production, restoring our nation’s manufacturing sector, and undergirding it all…he stood for restoring our freedom and preserving liberty.

With your help he carried the torch and fought for the principles that this country was founded on; that made this country great. Without fighting for them, this country cannot continue to be a beacon on the hill.

In the coming months Rick will continue to fight to restore freedom to our great nation, providing a strong voice for conservative principles and working to empower all Americans to succeed in the workplace and in the home.  From Obamacare mandates and runaway spending to job-crushing regulations and government intrusion into every aspect of our lives, Rick will continue to fight and give a voice to all Americans as we work to defeat President Obama this fall.

But Rick needs your continued support, your prayers, your encouragement, and your voice.  One way you can help is through your continued giving.  We have had miraculous days of almost $1 million from supporters that allowed us to be competitive and win key states.  We need your help again.  Please CLICK HERE to contribute $25, $50 or even $73.10. As Rick continues to raise the banner for conservatism in America, it is your partnership, prayers, and support that gives Rick, Karen and the family their strength to continue fighting the good fight.  God bless you, and please keep Rick and the Santorums in your prayers as we continue to fight together to restore freedom and opportunity to our great nation.
